I have not blogged for a long while. The past week we were busy setting up for LEGO and going mentoring. Saturday went well from the exception of queuing. Many of the parents liked how the competition went. The competition ended at 4p.m. and we ended up leaving at 6p.m..

Today I counted the money for the project we are doing for robotics. We ha raised $235 so far. We are so close to raising the amount of money we are reaching for. I also checked the toys we have raised. We have twice as much than what we had last year. I started on the paperwork for the FRC kick-off. I am really excited to see what this years mission is going to be about. I cant wait too start doing electrical work.

Today Bianca and I went to go mentor at Isaac. They are programing and doing research.They got one mission done so far. The mission that they got done is the one of the arm. The students are really interested in getting the missions done.

November 4,2010

Today we got the maps ready for HerWorld for tomorrow. I checked the journals and there is still a lot of people not writing on them. I turned in the paperwork for the trip we will be going on this Saturday. Cruz will be joining us on this trip. Ledge says it will be his first field trip he would go to. We found out we couldn't turn in the paperwork for the Isaac Middle School presentation this week. Many of us will be going in our own though.

Today I found out that we have to take a team picture at 5:00pm. Most of the team didn't know about it as well as I so we didn't wear our team shirts. . Bianca, Rebecca and I went to go mentor Isaac again. We didn't get to assign groups because there was little people attending LEGO today. We didn't get to do much done because we had to leave at 4:30pm today. After we left Isaac we went back to school to take the robotics photo. After that we left home for the day.

Today Bianca, David, Martin and I went to go mentor Isaac. We are almost done with building the field. Some students where looking at this years mission so they know what it is going to be about. Bianca figured out that some parts of the field where built wrong. Some students started to fix them today. We left Isaac at 5:45pm today and went back to Carl Hayden. There we saw what they did for the day. Then we left home at 6:20pm.

Today Staphany, Bianca, Rebecca, Gloria, Martin, David and I went to go mentor Isaac for the first time. When we went there we explained what FLL is and what they would be doing(It was their first time doing it after a few years). The students opened the LEGO parts and organized them so the next time we go it will be easier to build the parts for their field. The kids looked really interested in LEGO but it sucks that only 10 people get to compete. All of the kids helped on organizing the parts. When we were done we went back to Carl Hayden and Ledge gave us the paper we needed for the PTDA field trip.

Today we didn't do much after school in robotics. Ledge had to go to a district meeting. After school Bianca and I walked Staphany to Sutton because she didn't want to go walking by herself. When we came back we looked for a teacher that could stay a little longer with a group of people who stayed for robotics. That group of people was John, Eddie,Jonathan, Jorge, Dillon, David, Bianca and I. We only stayed until 4:00pm today because Mr.Whitley had to leave at that time.

Today I tried to turn in the req. for the Arizona Regional but the bookstore was closed. Later on we counted the club dues to make sure that there was the amount we are supposed to have. We ended up having three extra dollars. We also updated our club dues. Later on we were going to start on the dimensions of the electronics on the AUV but David was going to do that . We finished fixing the requirements list. Ledge and Hugo were on a conference about LEGO today. It lasted about forty-five minutes because Ledge had to leave at 4:30 today.

Today I figured out that Staphany is not leaving anymore. We updated the requirement list. Later on I was going to turn in the Regional blue req. but the bookstore was closed. I later on updated in some club dues. Ledge later showed us some things for the AUV robot.

Today we finished some paper that needed to be done. Bianca and I found out that Staphany has to leave to California this Friday. We hope Staphany gets to stay. We are planing to go to the movies this Wednesday. Jerry and Karen came today to build NURC props. So far they are looking good. Some people are starting to clean the play room. Ledge had a phone conference with LEGO. Ledge left early today but Haugen stayed with us. We left home around 5:00pm today.

Railfair October 9-10, 2010

Railfair was more calm this year and super hot then the past year I was here. It seemed as if there was less people interested in the robot this year. There was a few pledges we got from some people. We got fifty-eight dollars in donations which I thought was pretty cool because last year we got a few. This year the Freshmen where really good talking to people especially Martin and Joach. The last day of railfair we got to see the new train building which I thought that looked awesome. When we were there we talked to two engineers. They talked about how robotics is really good for us. From one of the engineers I learned about trains a little better.

Today was the HAM Radio test. We got to study to 10pm. This was going to be my 6th time taking this test. Unfortunately I did not pass the test. I was really disappointed of myself. Jesus finally passed his after begin his 11th time. Elizabeth passed it as well as some other people. We left home at 12:30pm today.

Today I came to HAM licence class again. We did more interesting things today than the previous days. During a break I helped Bianca with the batteries. The class ended at 12pm today. After that we were packing things up for the day. Later Bianca, Charles, David, Eddie, John, Staphany and I went to Subway.

Today I came to the HAM Radio class.It was interesting in the beginning but at the end started to get a bit boring. We got the new HAM Radio books. It has the same material but different questions.The class ended at 12pm today. When the class was over we went to the front of the school to wait for the people picking up the robot. Bianca as trying to pop Eddie's bloody blister but ended up using the shark tooth of my bracelet. Bianca and I left home before the people got there.

Today was my first day going to the HAM Radio class. I was not able to come yesterday because I had a doctors appointment. After the class we went home for the day. It was awesome in the afternoon. It was raining hard and at the same time it was raining hail.

Today after school I checked blogs. Thirty-four people have not been blogging. That is about half the people in the club. After that we saw the movie "Freedom Writers". It was a really interesting movie. I really liked it. While we were seeing the movie I was doing paper work for HerWorld. I was also updating things on the requirements.

Today after school Maria and I made posters for the social going on this afternoon. Bianca and Mia finished wiring the lights in the robotics room. Later on at 5:00pm we started setting up for the robotics social. At 6:00pm the party started Oscar and Cindy came. People were socializing and Karen was dancing in a way to the music. Then people started to eat and socialize more. The social was over at 8:00pm.

Today we worked on the blue lights in the volt and the robotics room.We finished the ones in the volt for Ledge's interview. Later Staphany and I did the paperwork needed to go to HerWorld. It is a pretty interesting schedule we will have. Bianca and I were bothering people to turn in their permission slips.

Today before we went mentoring I went to go make copies for a release form for the interview tomorrow. After that we went to Isaac to create a new LEGO team there. At Isaac we convinced a teacher to mentor the team. She told us that they might just do it for practice this year but then we met with the principle and he said he was going to pay for the entry as soon as possible.When we got back to school we told Ledge about it. Ledge then told us what we had to do for the EVROV. Then we checked the lights we are going to put on the volt.

Today I checked everyones blogs. Not everyone has blogged yet. There is still many people that have not payed the club dues. When I finished Bianca and I made a list for for tomorrows meeting. After I had to leave home early at 4:30pm. Ledge and some other students had to leave to presentation at Estrella Elementary School.

Today we had a meeting on the morning discussing on what we had to do for Fall Break. We are going to be having a HAM radio class during that time. On that Wednesday we are going to go to Isaac Middle School for a High school fair. It is going to from 4:30pm to 6:30pm. After school we didn't do anything because Ledge had to go to a doctors appointment. I went to go study for the PSAT test we will be taking on October.

Today for robotics we updated people on what we did in San Diego. We also got an update on what happened in the LEGO kick-off while we were gone. After school many people didn't do much because Ledge had to leave home for a meeting. Some of us stayed to work on the EVROV. Bianca and I fixed the electrical making it look neater. Other people where working on their ping pong robot.

San Diego

We left to San Diego Wednesday September 16. On our way to San Diego we stopped at IN & Out. From there everyone in our van was doing homework none stop till we finished or got to the hotel. When we got there we put our stuff in our assigned hotel room. After that we ate and had a meeting of what we were going to do for the next few days. On Friday we went to Seabotix. It was really cool when they gave us a tour of the place. We also talked about the underwater robot and what we could use for the robot. When we finished that we went to go eat at Mc Donald's. Right away when we finished we went to UCSD to learn about what we would use for cameras on our autonomous robot. That didn't really help much because everyone had a different idea for that. When we left from there we went to the hotel room and got our stuff ready to go to the beach while Haugen and Maria went to go get food. Before we got in the beach we got in the roller coaster. Most of the team got in the roller coaster. When we got off we went running to get in the water. The water was freezing cold. Later on we ate shrimp, burgers and hot dogs. When everyone finished eating we got on a ride that looked like a mallet. All the girls that went to San Diego got a friendship bracelet. Saturday morning we went to San Diego College. We gave them a lot of tips on how to get money for their team. The programmers of our team gave their programmer ideas of getting help of someone else. We where there till 1pm after that we went to go eat Arby's. The food was good from there we took off back to Phoenix.

Today I only stayed for a while for robotics. Ledge had a meeting after school. I left school to go get my stuff ready for the trip tomorrow. I also had to start on my work teachers gave me for the days I am going to miss.

Today we didn't do much for robotics. Ledge went to a doctors appointment right away after school so we didn't do anything for robotics. A group of people and I went with Miss Roman for help on math. After that we all left home for the day.

Today we went to the PSAT meeting after school. They talked about why it is important to take the PSAT. When the meeting finished we went back in the robotics room. When we got there Ledge was in the middle of a conference with people in FRC. They talked about bagging and tagging the robot for the regional. While that happened I was checking peoples blogs. There is still many people that have not blogged for the week. Then I was putting the people who have and have not blogged. After the conference call we had a short meeting of what the conference call was about. While we had the meeting a girl named Cortney came and told us that she is going to be following us for a school project. Ledge talked to her about the team a little bit and we gave her a tour of the robotics rooms.

Today we worked on making a letter for Dillon. The letter of the reason is trying to get money for robotics from his Native American Tribe. Later on we made a list of of people who are ineligible to go to trips. We where telling people to start doing their blogs and paying their club dues or else they are ineligible to go to trips. After we made a agenda for this Fridays meeting.

Today we saw a movie called "2 Million Minutes" During the movie I went to turn in paperwork for the Ham Radios but no one was there. When I came back I fixed a cable Ledge gave me for a computer. Finishing that John's roommate came and Ledge pulled him into the room. Ledge started to ask him questions of how his education was at China. It looked like everything over there is harder than it is over here. Even though most of the kids in China are honor kids they put them in regular classes. There is more honor kids in China then all the student in the US. He says there is about 5 million in his town when in Arizona there is about 3 million people in the state. John;s roommate kept on talking about his life on China.

Today I went to the book store to ask if we could still use our old minutes or if we had to use the new minutes the district sent us. When I came back I checked journals to write down people not doing their journals. When we finished we started thinking of ideas to put on the requirements. The requirements are based on if you cant do something then you have to do something else or buy something. Ledge decided to start rookie of the week and student of the month. We picked Walter for this week. Hugo and Karol showed us the progress on the video. It looks awesome so far. I really liked when "There is no spoon!".

Today I worked on doing the minutes for HAM Radios. I really don't like the minutes because there is a lot more work we had to do. When I finished with that I was making new emails for the people still joining the club. After I finished doing that I helped clean the play room a little for when the janitors come get the desks and chairs. We finally fixed the drama going on the team about the girls. Every body gets along together now.

Today in the morning there was a flood in the robotics room. It came from the air condition in the back room. Everything in there was wet and soaked. Our team bonded more than ever to help get most of the things out the room. Maria was soaked with dirty water. Most of the kids were wet and some of us smelled. After school I did some paperwork for the HAM Radio books. I made a worksheet for the club dues. There is still many people that have to pay the last months club dues. That was pretty much what i did today.

Retreat 8/28-29/10

For the most part the retreat it was really fun. I really liked the hike. It was my first time hiking and it was a really fun experience. After that we where on our way to the cabin but we passed the cabin. John was following us but all of the sudden we didn't see them. We thought that they new we passed it and turned back. When we turned back something horrible happened. We saw cars blinking their light we were really confused we asked what happened to someone talking in the phone. She said their is a car accident. When we went by we saw that the car accident involved John, David and Mike. Bianca and I started to freak out. We parked close to there and we saw them. Mike was in the ground sitting down, David was laying down in the floor, and John was still stuck in the truck. A little while passed and people helped John get out. We knew that John didn't remember anything that happened that day. Mike kind of new what was going on. David was in big pain. While we waited in the truck Bianca, Staphany, Rebecca and I where crying in the van because it was a really graphical moment for us. Later on the helicopter came for them and we went back up to the cabin. When we got there we went to the back yard while Ledge told the other students what has happened. While Ledge did that Haugen called the parents of the people involved in the accident. Later om Staphany, Bianca, Maria, Rebecca, and I helped Ledge make spaghetti for the team for dinner. At night we had a team meeting, ate smores and played chubby bunny. After that most of us went to sleep. In the morning Maria, Gerardo and I made breakfast for the team. After we loaded things in the van and when we finished we saw the"Matrix". It was a really awesome movie. On our way back to school we found out that David had 6 broken ribs and a blood in a lung. That was pretty much the retreat for me.

Today we worked on electrical work. My little crew and I fixed the battery chargers that needed fixing. We also helped the programmers wiring something for the computer. My little crew where kind of good when they helped me wire up what we had to. They are learning really fast. After that I cleaned up the room a little bit.

Today was open house it started at 4:45p.m. and ended at 7p.m.. A lot of parents came to robotics. There was a particular parent that was really excited to see the robot move. She took video of the robot and Bianca and I. She asked many questions about the robot and the team. After everything we cleaned up and went home.

Today we watched a movie called "The Rode". After the movie we talked about how we felt. It was a sad movie to watch. I really liked the movie. I expected more to happen in the movie. I was confused with what I felt about the movie. I was angry and really sad at the same time...So thats what we pretty much did for Robotics today.

Today was another day full of paperwork we had to do. I worked on the trip for HerWorld we will be attending November 5, 2010. We went to the library to make copies for the blue reqs. we finished but the library was closed. Bianca and I made the list of people going HerWorld and FLL Kick-off.

Today we did a lot of paperwork for the blue reqs. the board sent back for the reason that they were not correct. We did a lot of progress on the paper work we were mostly done but we didn't have any blue reqs. and had to wait until tomorrow.

Today after school Staphany and I went to Isaac Middle School to convince them to make a LEGO team at their school. They said they might do it . We have to go do a presentation on what is LEGO. We might have the mentor for the LEGO team in Isaac Middle School. I took the second Ham Radio test and I failed. At five we are going to have David and Richard come over to show a the picture they took form last year. We should be done looking at the pictures around 6:00p.m.

Today I finally passed my Ham Radio test with a 87.9%. I made the list for the people taking the PSAT and the SAT. We later checked the blogs to see who was not blogging for a while now. Some people haven't started yet. There is a total of 22 people that have not blogged yet.

Today we didn't do much in Robotics. I went to make copies of the letter for the Arizona Republic photo showing. After I finished I helped Staphany put up fliers for the Math club. Ledge and some students went to Intel to try to convince them to give them money for the team.

Today I took my Ham Radio Test and got a 75.4% on the test. We had a meeting on what the next mission is going to be about. Karen and jerry were there and Ledge gave them an update on what has been going on the team. I am really excited of the what the upcoming NURC mission is going to be about.

Today I took the QRZ test and got a 51.4%. Bianca and I turned in the permission slips for the Intel Presentation. We listened to Eddie talking about the teams past.
